RIDE OF THE NYMPHETS

| This performance occurred in early August 2009 in Lahaina on the island of Maui. This guitar ensemble was directed by Ben Verdery of Yale University. This group was comprised of all the participants in Ben's annual Maui Classical Guitar Workshop. Participants are personally selected by Ben and include players from around the country who range from amazing teen and pre-teens, to experienced teachers, to some of Ben's Yale graduate students. | ||||||
| The piece was written by Darin Au in 1993 as a guitar trio for some friends. It was a personal period of growth and the title was chosen mostly for shock value and as a nod to Wagner's Ritt der Walküren (Flight of the Valkyries); the title is now a point of slight embarassment by the composer.
