For the younger student…
GuitarPlay for Kids (ages 7 - 12)
This course starts students on our specialized curriculum for
youngsters. An emphasis is placed on playing with proper technique and
listening while playing in an ensemble. After taking one of our summer
sessions, students may be placed in our regular weekly sessions during
the school year. As the student advances, we work on building solid
musicianship through note reading, chord playing, improvisation, and
music theory.
For the teen and pre-teen…
Beginning Guitar for Teens (ages 12 - 18)
This course is for students who have never played the guitar
before. Among the topics to be covered are open chords, beginning blues,
simple rock songs and proper technique. After taking one of our summer
sessions, students may be placed in our regular weekly sessions during
the school year. As the student advances, we work on building solid
musicianship through note reading, more advanced chord playing,
improvisation, and music theory. We also cover numerous styles from
blues to classical to rock and reggae.
For the very young...
If your child is age 5 or 6, we don't offer the summer session for
children that young. However, we do have our standard weekly lessons
which are appropriate for little guys and girls. We've tried teaching
little ones in the summer format and have found their progress is the
same rate as being in weekly lessons. Because of this fact, we don't
feel it is economical for parents to put their 5 and 6 year old in
guitar lessons two or three times a week. Please contact us regarding weekly lessons instead!
