Summer Guitar Sessions

How to choose a class from our summer guitar workshops…

1) Read the course descriptions. Decide which class(es) your child should take. If you have any questions, please contact us using the form on the right of this page.
2) Look at the class schedule. First decide which weeks are best for your child to take a class, then decide on a time.
3) Contact us using the form on the right and tell us which course(s) you wish to enroll your child in.

How are your classes structured?
We have 3 week sessions and 7 week sessions. In the August sessions, we meet for 3 weeks on either M/W/F (30 minutes each day) or T/Th (45 minutes each day). This session is good for parents looking for an August activity for their child. In 7 week sessions, we try to match the timing of summer school and the Hawaii State Dept of Education calendar. We meet for 45 minutes per class period with 3 - 7 students per class. We are also flexible with your travel schedule. If you inform us of your travel plans at the time of registration, we will pro-rate your tuition.

What's the difference between your summer sessions and your regular weekly sessions that run throughout the year?
Our weekly sessions meet for 30 minutes once a week. This schedule works well for students' busy schedule during the school year. During the summer, students have a little more time so we offer new students the option of getting a "fast start" to playing guitar. Most students who start in our summer sessions continue during the school year in a weekly 30 minute lesson format and they seem to carry the momentum developed in the summer forward into the fall sessions.

What's the difference between a 3 week session and a 7 week session?
The only difference is timing and scheduling. The same material is covered in both formats, although the 7 week session will go further in the curriculum than the 3 week session. The 7 week session amounts to approximately 10.5 hours of teacher/student contact time (14 sessions @ 45 minutes per session) while the 3 week session amounts to about 6 hours. We offer the two options to try to fit the travel schedules of busy families.

How much is tuition?
Tuition varies depending on which session you register for. You can see the specific tuition amounts on the class schedule page.

When is the deadline to sign up?
You may register all the way up to the start date. If you decide not to take the class, we will refund your tuition minus a 25% cancellation fee through the first week of classes. If you cancel before May 10th, you will receive a full refund. Any withdrawals after the first week are not subject to any refund. Your spot is reserved once we receive your tuition payment via mail.

Where are the lessons taught?
We are located in an office building across the street from Times Supermarket on Beretania Street. The cross streets are Keeaumoku Street and Piikoi. This location is close to many city bus lines and several blocks away from Ala Moana Center. Please see our location link for directions and a photo map.

I think this is a great idea. Can I bring a friend?
If you bring a friend, we'll discount your tuition 10%. For regular 7th Fret students, we'll discount your summer (June/July/Aug) tuition 15%! For each additional friend you refer, we can discount your tuition an additional 7%. Be sure to tell us the name of the person you referred.
